Asad Shafiq jumps to 20th place in ICC Test player rankings

Veteran batsman Asad Shafiq has improved to number 20 in the latest ICC Player Rankings for Test Batsmen, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Wednesday.

The development comes after Shafiq scored a gritty century which almost led Pakistan to what would have been an extraordinary victory in the first Test match of their tour of Australia.

Shafiq jumped five places from the 25th position to his current ICC ranking.

Younis Khan, after making a comeback in his last performance, moved one place from 10th to 9th. However, Misbah ul Haq, who was previously on 14th position, was relegated to 19th position.

On the bowling side, no Pakistani bowler except Yasir Shah made it to the top 10. Shah managed only three wickets during the Brisbane Test match against Australia.
