Quetta report

THIS is apropos the news report ‘Damning indictment of govt inaction against militant bodies’ (Dec 16).

The Quetta carnage commission report has brought to fore some disturbing facts regarding the government’s ineptitude in combating extremism.

Individuals with an extremist mindset roam around freely in the country, spewing venom and hate at will, while the government remains a silent spectator.

The fact that the relevant authorities have failed to create a comprehensive databank of extremist organisations speaks volumes about the indifference shown at both federal and provincial levels.

It is time the government went beyond mere rhetoric and took some tangible steps to combat extremism.
