DRCs’ members briefed about legal system

KOHAT: The district police and Sarhad Rural Support Programme arranged a five-day workshop here at the police assistant lines to provide training to the members of dispute resolutions councils (DRCs) for solving property disputes in their respective areas.

An official statement issued here on Thursday said that the permanent members of the DRCs were briefed about human rights, legal system and limits of their authority in solving complicated property disputes.

They were educated on how to reach the trouble spot and then call both the parties to resolve the dispute according to their wishes.

Meanwhile, three local people sharing a land property with opposition leader in the district council, Naseem Afridi, have accused him of using his influence for conducting police raids on their house.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Hameed Khan, Sajid Afridi and Amjid Khan alleged that Mr Naseem wanted to grab the whole property while police were conducting raids on their house without warrants.

They urged Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and local police authorities to provide them protection.

HASHISH SEIZED: Police seized 80 kilogrammes of hashish at Muslimabad on the Indus Highway and arrested two alleged smugglers on Thursday. PRO to district police officer told mediapersons that Jarma police stopped a suspicious coaster (MI-4065) and on search recovered 80 kgs of hashish concealed in its cavities.

The police arrested Nakeebuddin, a resident of Bannu, and Niaz Ahmed of Rahimyar Khan and had registered a case against them.
