PPP says Bilawal not to be leader of opposition in NA

KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party has denied that its chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari will replace its senior leader Syed Khurshid Shah as the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly after becoming a member of the legislature.

A spokesman for the Bilawal House on Wednesday issued a clarification which said reports appearing in the media in this regard were wrong.

Also on Wednesday, Mr Bhutto-Zardari asked his party’s leaders in Punjab to start preparations for launching a movement against the PML-N government.

At a meeting of its central executive committee held in Naudero on Tuesday night, the party had decided to launch a movement by mounting a long march. But the PPP chairman has now asked the senior leaders of his party to begin making preparations for a movement to be started from central Punjab in the first phase.

The PPP has also decided to contact the other parties to drum up support for the movement and for acceptance of demands Mr Bhutto-Zardari had put forward in October.
