DADU, Dec 21: An investigation will be held against the DCO for violating section 52 of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2001 and releasing Dadu taluka’s development funds to public health engineering and works and services departments without consulting the taluka Nazim.

The Sindh chief secretary has appointed the additional chief secretary as the investigation officer.

This was said by Dadu Taluka Nazim Syed Zafar Ali Shah while talking to journalists here on Sunday.

Mr Shah said a delegation of the All Sindh Taluka/Town Nazims Alliance met Chief Secretary Mutawakil Qazi in Karachi on Saturday.

He said the delegation complained to the chief secretary against DCO Aijaz Ahmad Mangi and provided him with details of drainage, water supply and sanitation schemes, carried out by public health engineering and works services departments.

The Nazim said the schemes collapsed because of the use of substandard material.

He said the chief secretary assured them that action would be taken against the DCO.

He said Mr Qazi also directed the additional chief secretary to look into complaints in all districts, except Larkana and Badin, where DCOs had not released development funds to the taluka municipal administrations.

PROTEST: Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association (Sindh chapter), has announced that it will launch a protest movement against the Sindh health department from Jan 5 for not resolving their problems.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Sindh council of the PPSA held at the Civil Hospital here on Sunday, which was presided over by its provincial president, Niaz Hussain Bhutto.

The meeting was told that the Sindh government had failed to solve the problems of the paramedical staff.

It decided that after holding demonstrations and staging rallies in different parts of Sindh, the PPSA would take out a procession in Karachi from the Services Hospital to Sindh Assembly building.

SALARIES: The Dadu Taluka Municipal Administration has not paid salaries to 350 sanitary staff for the last two months as a result the employees have suspended the work both in the office and the city.

This was stated by the president, Taluka Municipal Employees Union, Basheer Ahmed Solangi, while talking to journalists here on Sunday.

He alleged that the TMA officials had embezzled funds and warned that if their salaries were not paid in seven days, the employees would hold demonstrations against the TMA.

ENCROACHMENTS: The Taluka Municipal Administration launched a campaign against illegal encroachments here on Saturday.

They removed over 800 encroachments from Shahi Bazar, Rai Bazar, Station Road, Kutchehry Road and other areas of the town.

Taluka Nazim, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, said that TMA had also issued notices to 500 influential persons including businessmen and shopkeepers to remove their illegal encroachments.
