Farhan Mehboob beats Hong Kong's Leo Au to win international Squash tournament
World number 49, Pakistan's Farhan Mehboob, overcame world number 30 Leo Au of Hong Kong in the final of the First President Gold Cup International Squash Tournament 2017 at Mushaf Squash Complex, Islamabad on Friday.
Farhan, who had won the Serena Hotel Chief of Air Staff International Squash Championship in November last year at the same venue, seemed in the same mood as he took the first two sets 11-4, 11-4.
In the next two sets, both players produced a series of well-constructed rallies, but Farhan conceded defeat 8-11, 10-12. In the last set, he came back strongly and did not give a chance to his opponent to take the set 11-3.
The match lasted for 55 minutes.
President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. He awarded trophies to the winner and runners-up of the tournament.
Pakistan Squash Federation president, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, squash legends Qamar Zaman and Jahangir Khan, and a large number of civil and military dignitaries and sports fans from the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi also attended the closing ceremony.
