SWABI: Adviser to the prime minister and PML-N leader Amir Muqam on Friday accused the ruling PTI of utterly failing to deliver the goods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and said those only shouting hollow slogans couldn’t change the people’s fate.

He was addressing a public meeting in Shewa Adda area here on Friday, where central PML-N leaders and federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal and Saad Rafique were also in attendance.

PTI leaders Jan Badar Khan and cigarette manufacturer Shiraz Akram Bacha announced the joining of the PML-N insisting the Imran Khan’s party has failed to fulfil election promises of the people’s welfare.

Mr. Muqam said the PML-N-led federal government would go ahead with the agenda of national development and progress despite destructive politics played by some parties, especially the PTI.

He said gas had been supplied to Shewa Adda area and other areas of Razaar tehsil would get it soon.

The PM’s adviser said the Razaar tehsil gas project was initiated by local MNA Usman Tarakai but he failed to ensure its early execution.

Minister Ahsan Iqbal said the PML-N government’s policies had caused the country’s foreign exchange reserves and nationwide investment to increase significantly.

“When we assumed the power three and a half years ago, the country’s forex reserves totaled $8 billion only but it has now reached the $24 billion mark. Similarly, there has been a considerable increase in the investment made in Pakistan since then,” he said.

The minister said the multibillion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project promised the country tremendous progress and development.

He said the country’s produced just 1,600 megawatts electricity during the last 66 years and the power production reached 11,000 megawatts during the PML-N government’s current term.

“Besides turning around the economy, we have also eliminated terrorism from the country. The entire world acknowledges it,” he said.

Mr Iqbal said the people had rejected the negative politics of PTI chief Imran Khan, who should learn from his mistakes and blunders and do his bit for the country’s development.Minister Saad Rafique said the people of KP could no longer be misguided by the ruling PTI through the slogan of change.

He said the PML-N government was striving for the development of the people across the country by executing mega development projects.

The minister said the CPEC project initiated by the PML-N government would change the economic landscape of the region.

Mr. Muqam along with the two federal ministers later inaugurated the Peshawar Electric Supply Company office in Shewa Adda area and a gas project in Razaar tehsil.

BOOTLEGGER HELD: The police on Friday arrested a man after seizing 40 bottles of liquor at a shop in Saleem Khan village here.

A police official, Subkhanullah, said Farman Khan sold liquor across the village and adjoining areas.

He said the arrested man’s brother, Sabaz Ali, was an accomplice to bootlegging and that search for him was underway.

Also in the day, the police arrested three drug peddlers after seizing six kilogrammes charas, unlicensed pistols and bullets.

They said they had registered an FIR against the arrested men and started investigation.
