Snooker camp for juniors ends

ISLAMABAD: The second session of the snooker training camp for juniors concluded here at the Pakistan Sports Complex on Friday.

Top eight junior cueists received valuable training from Iranian coach Soheil Vahedi, who is also the current IBSF amateur world champion, during the 17-day training session.

Mohammad Naseem Akhtar, the current national junior champion who recently won both U-18 and U-21 titles, Haris Tahir and Mohammad Rafiq were among the trainees.

The trio will participate in the U-21 Asian Junior Championship being held in Indian city of Chandigarh in April.

At the end of the session, the cueists of U-18, U-21 age groups were awarded certificates.

“Training gained at this camp will be helpful for these [junior] players at next month’s national championship in Karachi. And the three players who are going to participate in the Asian Championship will also benefit from the training sessions they underwent here,” said camp in-charge Naveed Kapadia.

The closing ceremony of the camp was attended by president of the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association Munawwar Sheikh, PSB director national federations Azam Dar, deputy director general Shahid Islam and Naveed Kapadia.
