Nabeel Gabol rejoins PPP, expresses trust in Asif Zardari
Former lawmaker Nabeel Gabol on Wednesday announced to rejoin Pakistan Peoples Party after meeting Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPP-P) chief Asif Ali Zardari in Karachi, DawnNews reported.
Gabol expressed his complete trust in Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, saying he was willing to work as a party worker.
In March 2013, disgruntled Gabol had parted ways with PPP, with whom his association had spanned 25 years, to join Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). Giving reasons for his disassociation, Gabol had held PPP policies responsible for his frustration.
He had alleged that PPP had "neglected and destroyed" Lyari. Showing his distrust, he had stated, "This is no more the party of Benazir.”
According to his prior statements, his differences with the PPP started when a former home minister began "patronising criminal gangs in his constituency."
In the first quarter of 2015, Gabol disassociated himself from MQM and resigned from the National Assembly, saying, “I have submitted my resignation as a member of the National Assembly as I was a misfit in the MQM.”
Later, in March 2015, he claimed that a plan had been hatched to assassinate him and the task to take him out had been assigned to a target killer named ‘Patni'.
Gabol was reportedly attempting to rejoin PPP since last year. The development is apparently emerged as a win-win situation for both himself and PPP, as Gabol was looking for a political platform whereas PPP was looking for a strong political face in Lyari, considered as its stronghold before emergence of gangwar groups in the name of Peoples Peace Committee.
