Zulfikar Mirza likely to return to politics

BADIN: Estranged PPP leader and former Sindh home minister Dr Zulfikar Ali Mirza has said that he can no more remain silent over political developments in the country and hinted that he will make a decision soon whether to resume politics.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Dr Mirza observed that the PPP co-chairman was inviting everyone to his party and now all those hated by Benazir Bhutto were finding their way into the party.

Dr Mirza said that Ms Bhutto expressed her displeasure with such people by boycotting assembly sessions and took up their wrongdoings at international forums, but now the same people were being invited to join the party.

He said he was pleased to know that Shaheed Rani’s [Benazir Bhutto’s] daughters reacted strongly when a person like Irfanullah Khan Marwat tried to join the PPP.

Dr Mirza said he could not stay silent anymore. “I will pursue the path of slain PPP leaders [Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto]” he said.

Welcoming the launch of Operation Raddul Fasaad, Dr Mirza said the armed forces should also initiate a similar ruthless drive against those who had looted and plundered public money so that such elements could not make their way into elected houses.

He said that those ruling the country and Sindh had miserably failed in providing any relief to the general public. He observed that 40 per cent of population still faced hunger while flawed government policies were forcing starving people to end their lives.

Dr Mirza said time had now proved what he had been telling people about Muttahida Qaumi Movement founder Altaf Hussain and his close aides was true.
