CJ visits Shabqadar bar to condole lawyer’s killing

PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Yahya Afridi visited Shabqadar Tehsil Bar in Charsadda the other day to show solidarity with the legal fraternity over the killing of senior advocate Mohammad Jan Gigyani a few days ago.

The chief justice condoled the death of Mr Gigyani and prayed to Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace. The chief justice also prayed for early recovery of Advocate Raham Shah, a nephew of the deceased who was accompanying him at the time of the attack and had received injuries.

Mr Gigyani, who was also a leader of Qaumi Watan Party, was travelling in a car along with Raham Shah and two other lawyers when gunmen on motorcycle ambushed his vehicle in Shabqadar on March 4. A militant outfit Jamatul Ahrar had accepted responsibility of his killing.

Justice Afridi appreciated members of the bar for remaining united and facing difficult security situation with courage.
