KARACHI: Income Tax engineered a made a remarkable comeback to reach 318-5 against the Higher Education Commission (HEC) on the second day of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II tournament fixture at the Rana Naved-ul-Hasan Cricket Academy in Sheikhupura on Monday.
Replying to HEC’s mammoth first-innings tally of 403, Income Tax were soon tottering at 36-5 after having resumed play at 5-1 against pace-spin combination of Mohammad Khurram and Ali Tipu.
But skipper Shoaib Akram led from the front to score 162 and together with Moazzam Hayat put on 282 in 262 minutes for the unbroken sixth-wicket partnership when the stipulated number of overs finished.
Shoaib’s 190-ball knock included 19 fours and four sixes, while Moazzam hit 105 off 146 balls with the aid of nine fours and one six.
The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) were heading for defeat against Brighto Paints after being forced to follow on at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot.
Responding to Brighto Paints’ 394, Nadra folded up for 183 before reaching 83-4 in the second innings.

Fit-again Pakistan left-hander Haris Sohail scored an undefeated 119 (143 balls, 11 fours and two sixes) as ZTBL amassed 340-5 versus Pakistan Oxygen Limited (POL) at the Diamond Club Ground in Islamabad.
Earlier, POL failed by just eight runs to overhaul ZTBL’s firs-innings total of 194.
