JUI-F retains Ziarat seat

QUETTA: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) secured its provincial assembly seat in a by-election in Ziarat as its candidate Khalil-Ur-Rehman Dummar obtained 13,774 votes.

According to the unofficial result, Noor Muhammad Dummar of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf remained second by securing 12,552 votes, while Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party’s Sardar Habib-Ur-Rehman Dummar got 9,105 votes.

Provincial Election Commission sources said that PML-N candidate Abdul Jalil could obtain only 833 votes, while four independent candidates — Haji Adam Khan, Khan Muhammad, Syed Abdul Rehman and Nawab Khan — secured 130, 21, 214 and 17 votes, respectively.

A total of 37,668 votes were polled, of which 1,042 were rejected. The turnout remained 63.11 per cent.
