SHC orders protection to freewill couple
SUKKUR: The Sindh High Court’s Sukkur bench on Friday ordered the Khanpur Mahar police of Ghotki district to provide protection to a freewill couple instead of harassing them.
Ali Gul Malik and his wife Shabnam had approached the court through advocate Khadim Hussain Malik to seek protection against alleged threats from their family members and other relatives over their freewill marriage.
The woman, a resident of the Lohi area, in her statement submitted in court that she had married Mr Malik of her free will on Feb 22 in Ghotki but the police were harassing her and her husband at the behest of their relatives.
The bench comprising Justice Umair Ali Sial allowed the couple to live together and ordered police to ensure their safety and security.
