PHC CJ promises to resolve lawyers’ problems

KARAK: Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Yahya Afridi stated on Saturday that bar and bench played an important role in the administration of quick justice, and promised that all the genuine problems of lawyers’ fraternity would be resolved on priority basis.

The high court chief justice visited Bannu, Lakki Marwat and Karak districts, where he met with judicial officers and members of the district bar associations.

Addressing the lawyers, Justice Afridi said that corruption in any department was a curse, which needed to be stamped out. He said it was the responsibility of the KP Bar Council and the district bars to pinpoint the elements involved in corrupt and fraudulent practices as they were destroying the reputation of both the bar and bench.

He said the lawyers were expected to assist the judges in administering cheap and quick justice to litigants. “Lawyers are expected to maintain respectful attitude towards the bench keeping in mind that the dignity of judicial office is essential for survival of the society. Thus, mutual respect is necessary among the lawyers and judges to maintain the harmony between the bar and bench. This will run side by side,” he maintained.

The PHC chief justice also visited the under construction judicial complexes in Bannu and Karak. He was told that due to paucity of funds work on the judicial buildings had been slowed down

Justice Afridi assured that all steps would be taken to speed up the work on the buildings.

The chief justice was apprised about the dilapidated condition of the courts in Banda Daud Shah tehsil.
