PMSA vessel capsizes near Indian maritime border, four reported dead

Indian news agencies reported on Monday that four Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) officials reportedly drowned after their boat capsized near the International Maritime Border Line (IMBL).

According to Indian news outlets, the PMSA boat was pursuing Indian fishermen near the international maritime border. However, after reportedly colliding with one of the fishing boats the PMSA boat capsized which resulted in the death of four of its crew.

Speaking to Dawn.com, PMSA spokesperson Commander Wajid Nawaz confirmed that a fleet boat had capsized, however, he categorically denied any collision and stated that the boat sank due to 'bad weather'.

Commander Nawaz also pointed out that the boat sank near the IMBL but within Pakistani waters.

Last month, PMSA had apprehended 85 Indian fishermen on charges of fishing illegally within the territorial limits of Pakistan, a senior police official told Dawn.
