QUETTA: The Pakistan Railways has extended the journey of Jaffar Express up to Peshawar from Quetta. The train will cover the distance in 33 hours while passing through all four provinces.

Divisional Superin­tendent of Quetta Railway Division Aamir Baloch was present during the departure of Jaffar Express on Saturday.

Passengers hailed the decision of the PR for extending the journey of Jaffar Express. There was previously no train up to Peshawar from Quetta.

Mr Baloch told the media that soon train service would be restored between Sibi and Harnai as tracks and bridges destroyed during insurgency had been restored and arrangements finalised to launch a passenger train on this section also.

Extension in destination of Jaffar Express had been taken with the view to providing more facilities to people. He said the train comprised of 12 compartments with a capacity to accommodate 750 passengers.

Mr Baloch said that more locomotives would be provided to Quetta Railways Division which would enhance its performance.

Goods train service had been restored between Qu­et­ta and Zahidan, he said, adding that 24 goods trains had run between the two cities during the past two months.
