Rescue officials collect the documents damaged in a fire at National Bank’s building. — Online
LAHORE: A fire erupted in the National Bank of Pakistan building on The Mall and burnt discarded files kept there on Wednesday.
Rescue 1122 firefighters extinguished the fire in one hour or so.
According to the rescue spokesperson, the fire broke out in the bank’s human resource section. The firefighters faced difficulties because there was no window in the building.
He said it took them two hours to completely extinguish the fire and cool off the area.
In another incident, eight railway bogies were gutted down in Harbanspura.
The Rescue 1122 spokesperson said that the bogies were parked at a railway terminal. First, railway workers tried to extinguish the fire but could not do so and alerted the Rescue 1122.
Fire tenders put off the blaze after the efforts of one hour or so.
He said the bogies might have caught fire due to short circuit.
MURDERED: A man was killed by the brother and uncle of his sister-in-law for allegedly beating her in Harbanspura on Wednesday.
Police said Asghar, 45, of Gadiyanwala, beat his brother’s wife, Shahida. She went to her parents in Sheikhupura and informed her family about the incident.
Police said the incident angered Shahida’s brother Arif and uncle Ajmal who shot dead Asghar at his house.
Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a case.
Cantonment Division Superintendent of Police Tahir Rehman said they had arrested both suspects.
