BHC questions performance of LEAs
QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court on Wednesday expressed its disappointment over the non-recovery of kidnapped Higher Education Secretary Abdullah Jan and asked the police and other security agencies about their failure to come up with any clues in 50 days since the kidnapping.
The deputy inspector general of police, Quetta, and the additional IG, legal affairs, appeared before a division bench comprising Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel and Justice Nazeer Ahmed Langove.
The judges remarked that the petition for the recovery of the kidnapped secretary despite the presence of police and other security agencies showed a lack of confidence in the law-enforcement institutions.
“If we are unable to provide any relief to the family of the kidnapped senior officer, what options are they left with?” Justice Mandokhel wondered.
DIG Abdul Razzaq Cheema informed the court that no breakthrough had been made in the case, but the police were working with other institutions for tracing the officer at the earliest.
