‘No chance of PTI’s alliance with Zardari’

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf central information secretary Shafqat Mahmood on Saturday rejected any chance of PTI entering into an alliance with Asif Ali Zardari (PPP).

He condemned Afghan Border Force’s unprovoked firing in Chaman, terming it a violation of international norms and principles that could strain Pak-Afghan ties. He said PTI was grieved over the loss of lives in the firing incident and shared the pain of bereaved families.

At a news conference on Saturday, Mr Mahmood said the Afghan government had accepted its mistake and peace situation was restoring in the disturbed areas.

He said the PTI would accept Supreme Court and JIT decision in Panama case. He, however, expressed his dismay over the twisting of party chairman Imran Khan’s statement about Supreme Court judges’ decision. He said Imran had never said that all the five judges hearing the Panama case regarded PM as a liar.

He condemned the statement of PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi’s lawyer against overseas Pakistanis. Stating that Nawaz’s two sons were also living abroad, he said the overseas Pakistanis were playing a pivotal role in strengthening Pakistan’s economy by sending $20bn to the country annually.

MOTION: PTI MPA Nabeela Hakim Ali on Saturday submitted an adjournment motion to the Punjab Assembly against the appointment of treasurer, controller of examinations and other senior officials in Lahore College for Women University without governor/ chancellor’s orders.
