Mardan varsity to reopen after VC’s appointment: DIG
MARDAN: Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mardan Division, Alam Khan Shinwari has said they could not reopen the Abdul Wali Khan University in the presence of the incumbent administration, which is incapable of handling any unpleasant situation.
Talking to mediapersons at the Mardan Press Club, he maintained that the police could not take risk of reopening the varsity as they feared that another untoward incident could happen in the varsity. “We will reopen the university only when the provincial government appoints its vice-chancellor or pro-vice chancellor,” he made clear.
Mr Shinwari said the police were likely to present in court the complete challan in the lynching case of Mashal Khan next week. He said 51 accused were nominated in the lynching case, of which 50 had been arrested.
The DIG said a departmental inquiry was also being carried out against police personnel for their alleged role in the murder incident. The DIG visited the press club to congratulate the newly-elected office-bearers of the club.
