At least 35 students injured in Quaid-i-Azam University clash

Two students groups at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) clashed on Saturday, at least leaving 35 students injured, said officials.

Police, called in by the university administration, resorted to teargas shelling and baton charge to disperse the enraged students.

However, police personnel failed to bring the situation under control, prompting the authorities to involve Rangers personnel.

Injured students were rushed to Poly Clinic Hospital. Around 25 injured students were allowed to go back after treatment, said the administration.

The university administration has announced to keep the institution closed for the upcoming week. Hostels in the campus are also being got vacated.
