Girl kidnapped from Sialkot recovered in Thar
MITHI: A joint team of Silakot and Tharparkar police conducted raid on a remote village in Chhachhro, 90 kilometers from here on Saturday, and recovered a 20-year-old girl who was kidnapped from Sialkot, Punjab, over a month ago.
Ms Kulsoom told police and local media persons after her release that she was kidnapped by one Razia, who drugged her and then sold her to a gang involved in girls’ sale in Thar and other areas of the country.
She said the gang forced her into marriage with a 60-year-old man, Mohammad Usman Samejo, in Kumbo-Ji-Dhani village, from where police recovered her.
Police officials said that they conducted the raid after Ms Kulsoom’s brother Saghir Ahmed registered an FIR at Sumbrial police station on March 20 and informed the investigators about a phone call he had received from her kidnapped sister.
They said that police traced the call and discovered it had originated from the Thar village. So they rushed to get her freed, they added.
