Four miners dead as coalmine near Quetta collapses

Four coal miners died on Wednesday when a mine collapsed in Quetta's Sorange area, Levies officials informed DawnNews.

All four miners, working inside the mine, died on the spot. The bodies were retrieved from the mine following a two-hour long rescue operation, the officials said.

The deceased miners belonged to Swat's Shangla area. They were identified as Kashmir Khan, Abdul Qayoum, Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Anwar.

Levies officials said the bodies were shifted to Pakistan Minerals Development Centre's hospital and will be handed over to their family members afterward.

In Balochistan, the coal miners work under extremely poor working conditions. Blasts inside mines have claimed lives of a large number of coal miners.
