Over 100,000 proclaimed offenders present in Sindh

Over 100,000 proclaimed offenders and absconders are present in Sindh, it emerged on Thursday.

The figure was revealed at a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office chaired by Inspector General of Police A. D. Khawaja, sources privy to the meeting said.

Out of the 100,000 absconders, more than 46,000 such offenders belong to Larkana only, added the sources.

According to the sources, IG Khawaja termed it as an alarming situation.

He reportedly expressed extreme displeasure over the performance of the police officers particularly Larkana DIG and directed the officers to launch an ‘effective crackdown’ for the arrest of absconding criminals.

The sources said that while reviewing law and order situation generally, the provincial police chief observed that Karachi, Sukkur and Larkana were facing a ‘security threat’ and asked the officers to take extraordinary measures to meet any eventuality.

The Sindh police head also expressed his displeasure over traffic chaos in Karachi. He issued directions that senior traffic police officers should be present on roads from noon till late evening daily to ensure smooth flow of traffic on roads during the holy month of Ramazan.
