Faisalabad DPO transferred, PA told
LAHORE, Aug 5: Provincial law minister Raja Basharat told the house on Tuesday that Faisalabad DIG had reported full implementation of the chief minister’s orders regarding transfer of the district police officer.
The minister said he had brought the matter to the notice of Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi who ordered a probe into the delay in transfer of the SSP.
Deputy opposition leader Rana Sanaullah claimed that the DPO had not relinquished charge in the hope that he would be promoted as DIG at the Aug 9 meeting of the DPC.
He alleged that the DPO was a relative of the Chaudhrys of Gujrat and was involved in a Rs20 million corruption case, which had been declared valid prima facie by a high-level inquiry team.
He said an officer involved in corruption should not be promoted.
Provincial minister Chaudhry Zaheer denied that the DPO was a son-in-law of the Chaudhrys.
Raja Basharat denied the impression that DPO was not relinquishing charge in the hope of becoming a DIG.
