Concern over threats to journalist

KARACHI: The Editors for Safety group has expressed concern over growing intolerance for independent journalism in the country.

The group in a statement on Sunday referred to the recent incident in which a reporter belonging to Express Tribune had received threats to his life.

According to the editorial management of Tribune, Chief Reporter Lahore Rana Tanveer has been facing threats from unknown people about his reporting on minorities issues. Two days ago he was hit by a speeding car and has to undergo surgery for his injuries.

“We urge the law enforcement agencies to do their utmost to identify and apprehend the culprits and ensure safety of Rana Tanveer,” said the Tribune.
