Woman shot dead by former husband in Larkana

LARKANA: A police constable, Mashooq Brohi, allegedly shot dead his former wife, Sughra Khatoon, 40, and wounded her brother, Mumtaz Ali Pirzado, when the victims were on their way to the sessions court to attend the hearing of her case.

Ms Khatoon’s relatives said that she was to depose before the sessions judge in a petition she had filed against Brohi after getting divorce from him.

Some of the people present at the crime scene, Sukarno memorial, near Al-Murtaza House in Lahori Mohalla, caught hold of Brohi after he fired several shots on the victims. He was then handed over to the area police.

Officials at the in Civil Lines police station said that the crime weapon, a pistol, was seized from Burdi.

Ms Khatoon’s nephew, Saddam Pirzado, lodged an FIR against Brohi at the police station. The body was later handed over to the heirs after a post-mortem examination performed at the Chandka Medical College Hospital.

Meanwhile, Mumtaz Pirzado was admitted to the the hospital for treatment of his gunshot wounds.
