Electronic recordings are legal evidence

LAHORE: The evidence collected through audio and video recordings has got legal status as the National Assembly has approved amendment to Section 164 of the Law of Evidence 1984, says an official of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority.

“Now the evidence collected through modern devices will not only be relevant but also basis of conviction as well,” said the official

The authority had sent recommendations to federal and provincial governments for giving proper legal cover to the electronic evidence collected, generated and stored in PPIC3 centres managed by it, he added.
