Holders SNGL move into semi-finals

KARACHI: Defending champions Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) breezed into the semi-finals of Naya Nazimabad Karachi Kings Ramadan Cup T20 Cricket Tournament after coastng to an eay eight-wicket win over Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) here on Saturday night.Pakistan Test players Asad Shafiq and Mohammad Rizwan and left-arm spinner Sadaqat Ali played key role in their team’s triumph at the Lawai Cricket Stadium.

Asad was declared man-of-the-match for his unbeaten 45. Batting first, CAA slumped to a modest 95-9 with just three batsmen reaching double figures. Mohammad Yaqoob emerged as the top-scorer with 22 in 25 balls with one sixer and one boundary. Ashar Qureshi’s 24-ball knock of 19 included three fours and one six.

Former Pakistan Under-19 spinner Sadaqat Ali captured three wickets 11 runs in his four overs.

SNGPL then romped to victory for the loss of just two wickets in the 17th over. Asad cracked four fours and hoisted brace of sixes in his 44-ball knock while Rizwan slammed two boundaries and one sixer in his 27-ball innings of 29.
