Flood likely in Chenab, Jhelum

LAHORE: Medium to high flood is likely in the rivers Chenab at Marala and Jhelum at Mangla upstream from July 11 to 13 due to heavy to very heavy rains that are expected in the country from Monday.

According to the Flood Forecasting Division here on Saturday, medium to high flooding is also likely in the nullahs (storm water channels) of the rivers Ravi and Chenab (Sialkot region), northeast Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa along with hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan division also from July 11 to 13.

It says the persisting trough of westerly wave over Kashmir and adjoining areas moved out on Saturday. A fresh strong trough of westerly lies over north Afghanistan and is likely to affect the country from Sunday night.
