Battagram tehsil council presents tax-free budget

BATTAGRAM: The Battagram tehsil council presented the annual budget 2017-18 and revised budget 2016-17 here on Monday.

Tehsil nazim Niaz Mohammad Khan Trand presented the budget.

During his speech, Mr Trand told the council members that expected income in budget 2016-17 was Rs256 million which was reduced according to the revised budget to Rs155 million.

He said expenditure in the annual budget 2016-17 was expected at Rs330 million, which was revised downward to Rs118 million.

He said this was because the funds under the Annual Development Programme, 2016-17 were not utilised.

The tehsil nazim said 2017-18 annual budget was tax free, adding efforts were being made to keep non-development expenses at minimum level.

He said expected income in the budget 2017-18 was Rs250 million, of which, Rs26 million would be generated through council’s own resources.

He maintained that the provincial government would release Rs107 million under ADP for development schemes.

The tehsil nazim said the overall expected expenditure for 2017-18 was Rs255 million, of which, non-development expenses were Rs70 million and development expenses Rs180 million.

He said Rs36 million had been allocated for employees’ salaries, Rs1.6 million as honorary budget for tehsil nazim, tehsil naib nazim and all the other council members, Rs27 million for other operational expenses and Rs5.6 million for charged compulsory expenses.

Mr Trand urged the tehsil members to suggest those schemes which the tehsil municipal administration could generate revenue from.
