Boy kidnapped from Layyah recovered
LAHORE: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police claimed on Saturday to have arrested an alleged kidnapper and recovered a minor boy from his custody.
Muhammad Usama, 9, of Kot Sultan (Layyah) was kidnapped from the house of his maternal uncle five days ago. The family after failing to find him contacted the local police.
The police registered a kidnap for ransom case against unidentified persons and started investigation.On Saturday, a police patrol stopped a suspect and a child at Data Darbar.
The team interrogated the man identified as Javed Iqbal who said he kidnapped the boy and took him to Lahore.
CIA SP Tariq Mastoi contacted the parents of the child and handed him over to them and praised efforts of the police team.
GANG BUSTED: The CIA police claimed on Saturday to have arrested a five-member gang involved in house robberies and street crime.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Amin Wains took notice of the rising incidence of robbery in Civil Lines Division and directed SP CIA Tariq Mastoi to arrest suspects.
The SP constituted a police team led by DSP Mian Shafqat Ali who conducted raids in different areas of the city, busted the Rana gang and recovered Rs609,000, three LCDs, cameras, laptops and mobile phones from their possession.
The suspects were identified as Rana Akram and his accomplices Iqbal alias Bali, Abdul Ghafoor alias Babi, Anwar and Muhammad Shahbaz.
The suspects were involved in 34 cases of robbery, mobile snatching and theft in different areas of the city.Mr Mastoi announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the team.
