Two get 27-year jail for acid attack
SAHIWAL: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday handed down 27-year imprisonment each to two persons who threw acid on a stage actress in 2016.
The convicts will also pay a fine of Rs1.3 million each.
Anam Shahzadi, 23, of 134/9-L, after completing her education shifted to Lahore and pursued career as a stage actress. On May 25, 2016, she was on her way to Lahore when two men on a motorcycle threw acid on her near Pakapttan Chowk. Anam suffered third degree burns on her face, chest and shoulder and the Ghala Mandi police booked three men including Fahad Lodhi and Tanveer on the complaint of her father.
ATC Special Judge Malik Shabbir Hussain awarded 27-year imprisonment to Fahad and Tanveer. Both of them received 14-year jail and Rs1m fine, 10-year jail and Rs100,000 fine and three-year jail and Rs200,000 fine under 326B, 7-ATA and 337F.
Zohaib was given the benefit of the doubt.
