Hockey event reaches last-four stage

LAHORE: Punjab Whites, Punjab Colours, Islamabad and Pakistan Boards have marched into the semi-finals of the National U-18 Women’s Hockey Championship here on Tuesday.

Punjab Whites defeated Punjab Colours 2-1 but both entered the last four stage while Pakistan Boards thrashed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 11-0 with Islamabad drafting 5-2 victory against Sindh Whites.

For Punjab Whites, Sarika Sarwar and Zara Tariq shared the scoring honours while for Colours their main scorer was Hamra Latif.

Four-goal Sana Akhtar and three by Mahnoor Liaquat enabled Pakistan Boards to earn a big 11-0 win against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Seema (2), Mahnoor Aslam (1) and Rukhsar (1) were the other scorers.

Islamabad’s Beenish Zafar (2), Urooj Shehzadi (1), Khansa Bibi (1) and Habiba (1) scored helped their team beat Sindh Whites. For the losing side, Asiya and Tehmina Parveen hit one goal each. In the fourth match of the day, Sindh Colours defeated Balochistan 3-0 with Farwa Akram, Sadaf Tariq and Mahnoor netting one goal each. No match will be played on Wednesday.
