QUETTA: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) has restrained the planning and development department from implementing any Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) scheme not approved of as per the law.

The bench which comprises Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Justice Nazeer Ahmed Langove passed this order on a constitutional petition filed by Mohammad Alam Mandokhel and others seeking restriction on the chief secretary of Balochistan and his subordinates for implementing schemes mentioned in the PSDP which had not formally approved.

The court allowed the government and respondents to implement all ongoing schemes, except the ones which had not been approved.

The BHC also ordered enhancing the allocation of the schemes from the last fiscal year before they were implemented.

The petitioners claimed that some of the PSDP schemes were not approved of as per decisions of the Supreme Court and they required rectification by the competent authority before they were implemented.

He made a direct reference to the Youth and Medical Support Programme and other unapproved schemes.

The additional chief secretary for development sought time to study for a possible review of all schemes and present them according to the law and rules of business.

However, the Advocate General, Amanullah Kanrani, assured the bench of strict compliance of the court order.
