Goal-scoring spree in five-a-side hockey
KARACHI: Olympian Manzoor Hussain Jr. 5’s continued its winning spree when it got the better of Shahnaz Sheikh 5’s 4-3 in the Essa Lab Quaid-i-Azam five-a-side under-19 hockey tournament at the Islahuddin-Dr M.A. Shah Academy on Thursday.
Ilyas and Abid Bhatti netted two goals apiece for the winners who had thrashed the Islahuddin 5’s 8-2 in the opener.
Mohammad Abid slammed two goals while Ahmer Ali scored once for the losers. This was the second straight defeat for the Shahnaz Sheikh 5’s.
In the next encounter, Rana Waheed, Mohammad Umer and Yasir guided Shahbaz Ahmed 5’s to open their account registering an 8-7 victory over Akhtar Rasool 5’s in a thrilling encounter.
Waheed struck three goals, while Umer and Yasir chipped in with two goals apiece with Mohammad Ammar adding one in the 8th minute for the winners.
Zubair , Mohsin Khan, Danish 23rd, Ruman and Faizan Alvi scored for the losers.
Earlier in the tournament, Shahbaz Ahmed 5’s had lost 4-8 to Hasan Sardar 5’s the other day.
Five-goal Essa Khan steered Islahuddin Siddiqui 5’s to inflict 8-6 defeat on Hasan Sardar 5’s in the third and last match of the day.
He was followed by Mohib, who slammed two goals while S.M. Kakar netted once.
Anis scored four goals for the losers while Abdullah and Waqas completed the tally.
