Aqeel helps Multan gain big lead
LAHORE, Aug 19: An unbeaten knock of 60 by Aqeel Arshad enabled Multan to build up a massive 184-run lead in the first innings against Quetta on the second day of the Inter-region (Under-19) Cricket Tournament match at Multan Stadium, according to a message received on Tuesday.
Multan were all out at 287 adding 87 more runs to their overnight total of 200 for 8 against Quetta’s paltry total of 103.
By close of play, Quetta showed better performance as it had reduced the lead to 39 by taking the second innings total to 145 for five. Opener Majeed Khan top-scored with 63.
Faisalabad gained a slim 25-run lead against Lahore in another match at the Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.
Lahore were all out for 143 after resuming at 65 for three due to hostile bowling of medium pacer Kashif (5-34) and off- spinner Ghulam Dastgir (4-15) who shared nine wickets between them.
Faisalabad who scored 168 in the first innings had further made their position strong by scoring 165 without any loss in the second innings—-extending their overall lead to 190. Openers Akhtar Rasool (74) and Abdul Manan (71) were still at the crease.
