Security plan for Muharram in Kasur
KASUR: Police have devised a foolproof security plan for the upcoming holy month of Muharram.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Ismail Kharak, 707 programmes, including 143 processions and 564 majalis, would be organised during the first 10 days of Muharram.
At least 300 police officials and volunteers would be deployed to avert any untoward situation. Two companies of the army would also assist police from 7th to 10th of Muharram.
The DPO added that sniffers and other security tools would be used to keep a vigilant eye on suspects.
He further said citizens should also keep an eye on any suspicious activity in aid of police to maintain law and order in the district.
BANNED: The Kasur district administration banned 21 religious scholars belonging to various sects in an effort to curb sectarianism during Muharram.
This was disclosed by District Commissioner Saira Omar on Wednesday in a press brief.
The brief stated that the banned religious scholars would not be allowed to enter, stay or deliver public speeches in the district and in case of violation, they would be legally prosecuted.
