Probe into woman’s ‘murder’ ordered
THATTA: On a special directive issued by Inspector General of Police A.D. Khowaja, a thorough investigation into the death of a woman was ordered after her mother accused the Thatta SHO of siding with her killers to show it an accidental death.
SSP Mirza Haseeb Baig reverted SHO Mohammad Hussain Pitafi and placed him under suspension to face charges of concealing facts and demonstrating negligence. On the SSP’s order, three suspects, Ali Bukhush Khaskheli alias Nanna, Riaz Jhoongai and Jabli Jakhro were arrested for alleged subjecting the victim, Khairunnisa, to gangrape and murder about a week ago.
The victim’s mother in her complaint submitted with different higher police officers kept insisting that her daughter had not been killed in a road accident near Pathan Colony on the Thatta-Sujawal section of the highway as was entered in the FIR by the SHO.
She said that the SHO and other officials at the police station sided with the suspects when she repeatedly tried to lodge the murder FIR. Her complaint was entertained when some activists sent messages by phone to the IGP and sought his help.
