PTI leader demands fresh poll

LAHORE: PTI central leader Ejaz Chaudhry has demanded holding of fresh general elections to elect “honest and committed” leadership to drive country out of the crisis, he says, created by the Sharif family.

Mr Chaudhry was speaking at a ceremony organised to honour the PTI workers who ran Dr Yasmin Rashid’s election campaign in NA-120 by party’s minority wing at its Chairman’s Secretariat on Saturday.

Saying that “moral crisis” was the biggest crisis for any country, Mr Chaudhry added referring to the PML-N that the party of a disqualified prime minister had introduced an amendment to the Constitution under which a disqualified person could head a political party.

He said Pakistan was facing the worst-ever economic crisis, besides being in a difficult situation on its foreign and defense fronts.

He deplored that the sitting prime minister was also echoing the point of view of Indian premier Narendra Modi and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.

He also regretted that the country’s whole leadership was now in London and claimed that they (the Sharifs) would not be able to return.

“The fresh general elections in Pakistan will be held early next year,” he claimed.

Dr Yasmin Rashid said she and her party was fighting against “a mafia” and being lauded by everyone despite her defeat.

She said she had submitted a number of petitions to the Election Commission but it did not take any action.
