Teachers’ Day: What makes a good teacher?
Behind every successful person is a passionate and hardworking teacher. From kindergarten to college to university, teachers play an important role in educating, grooming and inspiring us. They always want us to excel in life.
However, not all teachers have these qualities. We come across both good and not so good teachers. A good teacher makes a long-lasting impression on us, which we continue to remember throughout our life.
Passion is an essential element for being a great teacher. If a teacher does not develop interest in the subject they teach, how can they expect their students to cherish and learn from their lectures? A brilliant teacher has great enthusiasm for the subject they teach. Such teachers are not only innovative, but they also have the ability to keep the material interesting.
This can be achieved by having a good sense of humour so that not only they, but their students can also enjoy and pay attention in the class.
Furthermore, a good teacher should have a loving and caring nature. They should have the ability to inspire students. Then a student will not only idolise them and develop interest in their subject, but will also build a strong relationship with their teacher and approach them in any difficulty, with any topic or personal problem. This adds to a student’s progress as they pay more attention in the class, producing better grades.
Besides, a smart teacher has good classroom management skills and the ability to grab the attention of all students. They also ensure that every student is at their best behaviour. A teacher should also be fair and should not favour any specific student. Besides this, teachers should encourage their students to work hard and have high expectations from them.
Responsibility is another important quality of being a teacher. A good teacher will always take responsibility for their students’ actions. They will always be organised and punctual, encouraging that their students to follow this punctuality in studying and producing good results. A good teacher will always be ready to answer any question from students and by the end of the class, they ensure that their students are clear about all concepts.
If a teacher has all of these qualities, not only will they earn student’s respect, but they will also be remembered by their students throughout their lives. Their wise words will continue to inspire them and push them forward to become a successful person.
