Mushk’s memory to last for a long time, says Sania

LAHORE: TV and theatre actor Sania Saeed says meaningful and objective theatre has long been marginalised in the country and the theatre groups can perform a number of such plays if given an opportunity.

Referring to the theatre play, Mushk, in which she is acting along Nimra Bucha, she termed the venture an emotional production that would be remembered by the audience for a long time.

She was addressing a press conference along with Ms Bucha at Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall, on Tuesday. The play is an Olomopolo production and it will be performed at Alhamra from Oct 6 to 8.

Ms Saeed described performing in Lahore at the platform of Olomopolo as an absolute gift.

Both the actors talked about the chemistry they evolved for Mushk. Ms Bucha said the theme of the play was interesting in which a journalist meets a writer, and added that she was performing in Lahore for the third time.

Kanwal Khoosat of the Olomopolo said their production house was holding four to five major productions annually from different genres of performing arts. She said Mushk was an adaptation of an English play but she did not disclose the name of the play.

“We have made many changes to localise the play,” she said.

Ms Khoosat said that a music video of the play had also been produced which would be released on the electronic media. “We have got original music for the play which has been composed by Zainab Jawad,” she added.

Mushk has been written by Raabia Qadir and Seemal Numan and directed by Kanwal Khoosat. After Lahore, the play would be performed in Islamabad and Karachi. In Islamabad, it would be performed at the Pakistan National Council of Arts from Oct 21 to 22 while at the Karachi Arts Council from Nov 3 to 5.
