Pakistan crush SL 8-2 in Asia Cup Senior Baseball
LAHORE: Pakistan crushed Sri Lanka 10-2 in its first match of the Asia Cup Senior Baseball in Taiwan, according to result released by the Pakistan Federation Baseball here on Friday.
According to PFB president Khawar Shah after beating Sri Lanka, Pakistan again earned top position in the West Asia region, which Sri Lanka had snatched after beating Pakistan in the West Asia Cup’s final 3-1 in Islamabad this year to also lift the title and qualified for the ongoing Asia Cup along with Pakistan.
From Pakistan Arsalan Jamshaid, Ubaidullah and Fazal-ur-Rehman scored two each, while Muhammad Rafi, Waqas Ismail, Jawad Ali and Zakir Afridi contributed one run apiece.
Meanwhile, Khawar said Pakistan U-15 team would also participate in the Asia Cup being held in Japan from Nov 1 to 6. Besides Pakistan, Taiwan, China, Philippines, Hong Kong, and host Japan are also participating in it. He said an extensive training camp had been in progress in Lahore for the last four months to field a strong team of the youngsters.
