Man gunned down in ‘honour killing’

SUKKUR: A group of armed men broke into a house in Bago Darho village of Ghotki district on Tuesday and gunned down a man, Hazari Dhondho, 55, sitting inside, officials at Belo Mirpur police station of Mirpur Mathelo said.

The victim’s brother, Lal Bux Dhondho, told the police that the attack was related to Hazari’s dispute with a family of the same community over a matrimonial issue. He said the rivals committed the murder for ‘honour’.

The police said a hunt was on for the attackers, adding that the body was handed over to the heirs after a post-mortem examination performed at the Mirpur Mathelo district headquarters hospital.

Meanwhile, the body of an man was found near the Mirpur Mathelo police station on Tuesday. The area police said that the man aged 55-60 was found dead by passers-by. The body was taken to the Mirpur Mathelo district headquarters hospital but no one turned up to claim it until late in the evening.
