Multan lawyers continue protest
MULTAN, Aug 22: The Lahore High Court Bar Association, Multan bench, staged a sit-in for the third consecutive day on Friday to protest against non-representation of south Punjab in the appointment of judges.
Office bearers of the Multan chapter of the Pakistan Medical Association also joined the sit-in to express solidarity with the lawyers.
Speaking to the gathering, Multan PMA president Dr Shaista Samad criticized the policies of the policy-makers sitting at the provincial capital, saying “adoption of Pakistan Resolution in Lahore does not mean that all resources of the country be diverted to it”.
PMA secretary-general Dr Shahid Rao alleged that the bureaucracy of Lahore had ‘penalized’ the talented people of the south.
He stressed the need for launching a joint struggle against the injustice being meted out to the people of south Punjab in all walks of life.
Bar leaders reiterated their stance that lawyers of south Punjab should be given a fair share in the judiciary.
