BAHAWALPUR: The 10-day ‘Jashn-i-Bahawalpur’ concluded on Sunday night at the polo ground of the historic Noor Mahal.
A documentary was screened at the event highlighting the 1947 unconditional accession of former Bahawalpur state with the newly created Pakistan by late Bahawalpur nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi in the presence of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah at Palace Al-Shams in Malir, Karachi. The theme of this 10-day gala organised by Pakistan Army was projected through a number of cultural shows, national songs, and national anthem participated by local artists and schoolchildren. It was aimed at paying homage to the late nawab of the state for his contribution towards Pakistan.
The other documentary screened during the event pertained to the stories of the martyrs of the army.
According to a press release of the Inter-Services Public Relations, Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi, the grandson of the late nawab, was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony that was attended by parliamentarians, Bahawalpur Division Corps Commander Lt. Gen Shair Afgan, Bahawalpur GOC Maj Gen Moazam Ijaz, senior military officers and elite of the city.
