Prosperity not possible unless corruption is banished: Qureshi

HYDERABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) vice president Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that his party wants to eliminate corruption from the country and if hurdles are created in its (PTI) campaign, the party would gather people in Islamabad to protest.

A party press release issued here on Monday said that he offered condolences to Makhdoom Jamiluzzaman, head of Sarwari Jamaat, on the death of his mother in Hala.

Later, he told journalists that the PTI wanted to ensure accountability in the country to curb corruption. The PTI stood for a prosperous Pakistan, but it would not be possible unless corruption was eliminated, he said.

He said that if hurdles were created, the PTI would gather people in Islamabad against the corrupt political system.

If the corruption continued, Pakistan could not progress, he said, adding that the country would be “enslaved” by the IMF.

He said people wanted change in the system and were looking forward to the PTI and Imran Khan. Later, he proceeded to Mirpurkhas and Umerkot districts. He would participate in Diwali celebrations in Umerkot.
