20 riders from Chitral take part in jeep rally
CHITRAL: Twenty jeep riders left Chitral for Islamabad via Gilgit-Baltistan here on Friday in connection with the Independence Jeep Rally being organised by the Pak Army to mark the 70th independence year of the country.
Commandant of Chitral Scouts, Colonel Moeen saw off the jeep riders after a festive party in the polo ground where events of traditional polo match, cultural show and paragliding were also held with thousands of spectators thronging the venue.
District nazim Maghfirat Shah, deputy commissioner Irshad Sodhar, DPO Syed Ali Akbar Shah, MPA Saleem Khan and notables were in attendance.
The rally will reach Islamabad in two days, while it will stop at Shandur, the highest polo ground of the world, while the second stopover will be at Jiglot area of GB. The rally was given warm welcome at Kuragh, Booni and Mastuj where local people showered the vehicles with rose petals.
