PHC shuts 42 quacks’ outlets in a week
LAHORE: The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) sealed 42 “clinics, labs” etc being run by quacks during the last week and initiated further proceedings against them.
A spokesperson said on Monday that raids were conducted on 97 clinics, labs, medical stores etc and 55 of theses were allowed to function after verification of their registration with the PHC.
The sealed establishments in Toba Tek Singh and Gojra included 14 labs, 10 medical stores, clinics of seven general practitioners and four homeopaths, three tibb centres (hakeems), two radiology centres and one each dental clinic and haddi jorr (bone fracture treatment) outlets.
The staff at these centres was found to be unqualified for rendering medical services.
Quoting PHC Chief Operating Officer Dr Ajmal Khan, the spokesperson said that during the campaign launched across the province since July 2015, more than 6,000 businesses of quacks had been sealed and a fine of over Rs40 million had been imposed on the violators.
